Yahoo! predicts it will close MyBlogLog in January, 2010. Oddly enough, it appears Yahoo! Is becoming it’s own worst enemy and developing a pattern of poor business solutions. This is especially true in respect to asset liquidation. Except that there is no liquidation, and more importantly no solution and likely no operating costs reduction either. Yahoo Crews simply seem to be shifting the blame internally and to those out-of-sync in the world of virtual assets. Scratching the service slightly over the past year, we find the second and third quarters of 2009, the company posted substantial declines in search market user share month after month. But, in November 2009, the decline appears to have hit the pause button.
In my opinion the pause can be directly traced to the multitude of loyal Yahoo! Mail service user accounts more so than the suggested ‘re-branding’ within. It seems unlikely the ‘re-branding’ explanation that followed the GeoCities closure is anything more than an attempt to really explain the actions within. And, there has been no mention that I have read of what became of those GeoCities users. How many of them actually upgraded? Where is the data tracking of those particular conversions?
